Master builder Pascal Schwab has specialised in timber constructions for decades.
Working with our colleagues in MiTek Sweden, Pascal and his team have taken on the exciting transformation of a 17th-century stone building in the Swiss town of Cressier.
Left derelict after a raging fire ripped through the building, the remaining structure was on the verge of collapse and needed rescuing.
A complex renovation, one of the main challenges was introducing modern building techniques that didn’t compromise the integrity of the historic stone building. Achieving the highest levels of modern acoustic flooring within the shell of the building was one such challenge.
Pascal comments: “It’s an old building and these old buildings are a challenge to be able to construct something new inside. It’s very complicated to make a thin floor and [achieve] a very good acoustic solution. That is really the challenge of this building.”
Posi-Joist offered the ideal solution.
Hear what Pascal has to say about how Posi-Joist flooring is helping to complete the transformation of this 17th-century stone building. The film above shows the remarkable renovation so far.
