How timber manufacturer UAB Domonas is meeting the demand for smarter, service-ready, and sustainable building solutions with Posi-Joist.
Lithuanian timber manufacturer UAB Domonas has a long-term partnership with MiTek and has been using Posi-Joist systems in its projects for several years. As demand for sustainable, energy efficient building solutions continues to grow, Posi-Joist technology is providing an accurate and reliable solution. We hear from Gediminas Apanavičius, Head of Production at UAB Domonas, about how it’s helping builders and clients meet the challenges of modern construction.
The drive to construct energy efficient buildings means builders and specifiers are looking for solutions to successfully integrate multiple building services like ventilation, heat pumps and electrical wiring efficiently and effectively. And Domonas’ clients fall into this category.
The solution? MiTek‘s Posi-Joist technology.
For Gediminas, clients are seeing the benefits of the hybrid timber and steel joists. The open web design allows mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services to be routed quickly and easily, without the need for cutting or drilling. It also makes adding insulation much more straightforward, too.
Each lightweight Posi-Joist is factory engineered to precise dimensions using MiTek’s 3D design software PAMIR. The software accurately designs the system so that it can be prefabricated and delivered to site ready to install. This approach saves clients time, reduces waste and supports more reliable project delivery.
The real-world benefits of Posi-Joist
One of Domonas’ clients faced a familiar problem – figuring out how to integrate lots of services into a building with limited floor-to-ceiling height.
“It wasn’t possible to fit all of the services into the suspended ceiling,” explains Gediminas. “We proposed the Posi-Joist solution. What did that change? Initially, the client considered using solid timber beams, but that would have required drilling many holes and pre-planning all the services in advance. Posi-Joist technology made it possible to avoid that and route all the services into the building quickly and easily.”
Scaling for the future
With the advantages of Posi-Joist becoming increasingly recognised, Domonas is seeing interest in the technology grow. To meet demand, the company is expanding its production capacity and manufacturing and assembling the system to deliver both standard and highly ambitious projects, from serial production to unique or large-scale structures.
“Posi-Joist technology is ideal because it allows everything to be integrated quickly and precisely on site,” says Gediminas. “Clients are choosing Posi-Joist because it’s a fast solution that’s tailored to building services today and in the future.”
Through its partnership with MiTek, Domonas is helping its clients deliver sustainable projects in Lithuania. The Posi-Joist system provides a flexible, service-ready, and sustainable construction solution for the whole supply chain.
