From the ground to structure in two weeks – how connector trusses helped a Latvian business build faster

When owner of SIA Locus, Kaspars Pors needed a fast and reliable way to build a new hangar for his business, he turned to Latvian truss manufacturer SIA AIG construction – and to MiTek connector plate technology that offered speed, precision and stability.

Just over a year ago, Kaspars bought land in Priekuļi Parish to expand business operations. “We had reached the point where we needed to build a hangar,” explains Kaspars. “I started looking into different companies because it was important to me that we work with a Latvian company and Latvian producer.”

That decision led him to SIA AIG construction, a manufacturer based in Ogre, known for its timber structures – and its use of MiTek connector plate technology to produce engineered trusses.

“We reached the hangar stage within two weeks, including the foundations.”

Connector trusses: a faster, more reliable solution

Compared to steel structures, a timber solution using connector plate trusses proved not only more cost-effective, but more environmentally responsible. “It’s 100% Latvian wood, produced by a Latvian company,” says Kaspars.

The simplicity of installation was a key advantage. SIA AIG construction’s design and production process, using MiTek’s 3D software PAMIR, meant the trusses arrived on site with clear sequencing and instructions – making assembly easy for the local building team hired to construct it.

“Communication was very good, everything was accurate and on time,” notes Kaspars. “Our local builders installed them within a week. The whole structure reached the hangar stage within two weeks, including the foundations.”

The hangar itself will be finished in sheet metal and will feature 20 windows. It will be a functional space with aesthetic appeal, built to support the future growth of the business.

Smart systems, positive partnerships

This project is a great example of how supplier, producer and client worked together, combining precision engineering with local expertise. As the supplier, MiTek provide SIA AIG construction with the technology and software to design buildings like the hangar. Clients like Kaspars then benefit from Latvian producers like SIA AIG construction to deliver a timber truss building that’s meticulously designed off site. Kaspars is confident that the hangar will be standing for many years to come.
