At MiTek, we are always striving to improve our products and push the boundaries of what is possible in the building sector.

Here at MiTek Baltics, we have been following our colleagues over at MiTek Sweden with interest as they pushed the limits of the new hybrid Posi-Joist product with a series of tests undertaken at Linnaeus University in Växjö.

The testing lab at the University was equipped with the latest technology, including sensors and computers to monitor how Posi-Joist reacted to pressure during the test.

The test was a “test to failure” which meant the University team took the hybrid Posi-Joist to its breaking point to measure its short-term and long-term deflection.

The preliminary results from the tests were very positive, and we’re eager to see the University’s findings when they are published later this year.

This is just the start of the testing process, and we are confident that the research will help develop the product even further.

The combination of different materials used in the hybrid Posi-Joist make it unique. By using steel, wood, and concrete together we can take advantage of each of the material’s properties to create a strong and sustainable joist that will allow for long spans.

It’s great to see sustainable solutions for the building sector being developed and pushed further, and this project is a testament to that.
