At MiTek Baltics we enjoy seeing how our products and services are used by pioneering companies in the construction industry. In Prienai we met with Ecodomus, one of the most innovative construction companies in Lithuania, to understand how they use PAMIR and Posi-Joist.
Ecodomus have been designing and building modular houses for more than 20 years, and in 2023 they installed a state-of-the-art Posi-Joist production line at their factory in Prienai.
Ecodomus CEO Girmantas Juknis shares:
“We are glad that we can offer the innovative Posi-Joist technology, which is already very popular across Europe as well as in Lithuania. Its benefits are felt by everyone: architects, construction developers, and people living in these houses.
We are a modern company, and we are constantly looking for innovations that we can introduce to the market, so we invested in new equipment and started the production of Posi-Joist from the beginning of 2023.”
MiTek’s Posi-Joist first became popular in the United Kingdom and then in Scandinavia; and Ecodomus want to ensure that the product is available to the industry in Lithuania.
Design innovation
Ecodomus are also using MiTek’s industry-leading design software PAMIR for the design and production of roof trusses and Posi-Joist.
Girmantas Juknis explained: “It is thanks to this program that we can easily design both the roofs of the houses and the roof trusses.
The perfection of the PAMIR program is that the program is designed to design the structures of a complete house, so we can easily prepare a project of any size and type of house and transfer it to production very easily.”
Innovation in practice
Alongside design, Ecodomus manufacture, develop, and build real estate projects throughout Lithuania. They’ve used MiTek technology for over 20 years on such projects and strongly believe that the best way to evaluate innovations in the construction sector is to test them yourself.
That’s exactly what they did in 2023 when they simultaneously started producing Posi-Joist at their Prienai factory whilst using the product in their development project ‘Zatorski Vilos’.
‘Zatorski Vilos’ is a block of residential two-story houses. The first six homes have already been built with residents enjoying their new homes. Girmantas Juknys explained two main advantages of using Posi-Joist on this project:
“The first is systems integration. All the important systems (ventilation, electricity, plumbing, etc.) are installed inside the ceiling. Thanks to this possibility, the internal space of the house is used more efficiently, and the systems are hidden easily and beautifully.
The second is excellent acoustics: unlike most wooden houses, Posi-Joist has top class sound insulation guaranteeing comfort, peace, and privacy in every corner of the house.”
